<![CDATA[Bulldogs!!!!]]>Fri, 12 Aug 2011 14:18:54 -0800http://www.fastswimteam.org/1/post/2011/08/bulldogs.htmlFAST has returned to its roots and has rebranded the team as the FAST Bulldogs. ]]><![CDATA[Kentucky State Championships]]>Sun, 01 May 2011 10:34:02 -0800http://www.fastswimteam.org/1/post/2011/05/kentucky-state-championships.htmlFAST was represented by Jacob Silvernail at this years 13 & Over State Championships. For his first Xperience in the big pool at UK, Jacob did a great job. He was not distracted by the constant commotion. He was not deterred by the minimal seating arrangements. He stayed focused and got up for both his sprint races and did best times. Jacob dropped .36 in the 50 Free for a final time of 26.08 and dropped almost two seconds in the 100 Free for a best time of 58.98. Jacob won his preliminary heat in the 100 Free from lane 2. Good job Jacob. We look forward to continued improvement.
FAST was represented by Garrett Brock and Emma Silvernail at the 2011 21 & Under Championships. Garrett swam best times in both his events, the 50 Breast and 50 Free. He dropped .74 seconds from his seed time in the 50 Breast and dropped almost 1.5 seconds in the 50 Free. Garrett exhibited an excellent start in his 50 Free. Emma Silvernail qualified for six events in this year's Championships, however, she only swam two events at the Championships. Along with being an excellent swimmer, Emma, represented her school's academic team and competed at that on Saturday. However, on Sunday at the swim meet, she represented FAST in both the 50 Free and 50 Fly and dropped almost two second in the 50 Fly preliminary race. Both of these swimmers performed well and we expect continued improvement from them as well.
Finally, FAST was well represented by five swimmers at the 8 & Under Championships (a first for FAST). Swimmers Mattie Brock, Caroline Renshaw, Canyon Thomas, Logan Thomas and Sidney Wix competed well at the Championships. Each swimmer had time drops in different events. Also, for the first time ever, FAST, swam two relays at the Championships. Our four 8 & Under girls swam in both the 200 Free Relay and 200 Medley Relay. Six year old Canyon Thomas was the top FAST swimmer with an 11th place finish in the 25 Back. FAST appreciates all of it's swimmers and their parents for participating in this years State Championships.

<![CDATA[FAST Freezin' for a Reason]]>Tue, 08 Mar 2011 13:28:20 -0800http://www.fastswimteam.org/1/post/2011/03/fast-freezin-for-a-reason.htmlOn Saturday February 19, several FAST Xperience swimmers and one coach participated in the 2011 Polar Plunge For Special Olympics. It was a beautiful day with above average temperatures, however, the water was still cold - 40 degrees in fact. FAST team members raised over $1,000 and we are very proud of all the plungers and their families for supporting this community event. Special thanks to athlete plungers: Claire Stapleton, Alexandra Silvernail, Jacob Silvernail, Emma Silvernail, Trey Hayden, Sydney Hayden. Coach plungers included myself and Roger Stapleton. Coach Roger has placed several photos on Facebook and you can also go to the Special Olympics website to view all the fun from that day. FAST is proud to participate in this event and we look forward to plunging again next year. ]]>
